Fried Green Tomatoes

Heirloom Tomato Herb Salad

Goat Cheese Fondue

Method

Fried Green Tomatoes

  1. 1

    Prepare the Tomatoes

Slice the green tomatoes into 1/4-inch thick slices. Season with salt and let sit for 10 minutes. Pat dry with paper towels.

  2. 2

    Marinate

Soak the tomato slices in buttermilk for at least 30 minutes.

  3. 3

    Dredge

In a shallow dish, combine cornmeal, flour, salt, and black pepper. Remove tomatoes from buttermilk and dredge each slice in the cornmeal mixture.

  4. 4

    Fry the Tomatoes

In a large skillet, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Fry the tomato slices in batches until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes per side. Drain on paper towels.

Heirloom Tomato Herb Salad

  1. 5

    Prepare the Salad

Chop the heirloom tomatoes into bite-sized pieces and place in a bowl. Add chopped basil and parsley.

  2. 6

    Dress the Salad

In a small bowl, whisk together olive oil, balsamic vinegar, salt, and black pepper. Pour over the tomato mixture and toss to combine.

Goat Cheese Fondue

  1. 7

    Prepare the Fondue

In a small saucepan, combine goat cheese, heavy cream, minced garlic, thyme, and black pepper. Heat over low heat, stirring until the cheese is melted and smooth.
