Prepare the Tomatoes
Slice the green tomatoes into 1/4-inch thick slices. Season with salt and let sit for 10 minutes. Pat dry with paper towels.

Marinate
Soak the tomato slices in buttermilk for at least 30 minutes.

Dredge
In a shallow dish, combine cornmeal, flour, salt, and black pepper. Remove tomatoes from buttermilk and dredge each slice in the cornmeal mixture.

Fry the Tomatoes
In a large skillet, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Fry the tomato slices in batches until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes per side. Drain on paper towels.

Dress the Salad
In a small bowl, whisk together olive oil, balsamic vinegar, salt, and black pepper. Pour over the tomato mixture and toss to combine.

In a small saucepan, combine goat cheese, heavy cream, minced garlic, thyme, and black pepper. Heat over low heat, stirring until the cheese is melted and smooth.
