Cooking Directions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Shrimp

In a bowl, combine buttermilk and Cajun seasoning. Add shrimp, cover, and marinate in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes.

  2. 2

    Make the Breading

In a separate bowl, mix together flour and cornmeal. Add a pinch of salt and pepper.

  3. 3

    Heat the Oil

In a large pot or deep fryer, heat vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C).

  4. 4

    Bread the Shrimp

Remove shrimp from buttermilk mixture, letting excess drip off. Dredge each shrimp in the flour-cornmeal mixture until fully coated.

  5. 5

    Fry the Shrimp

Fry shrimp in batches for about 3-4 minutes or until golden brown. Remove and drain on paper towels.

  6. 6

    Assemble the Poboy

Slice the French bread or hoagie rolls and layer with lettuce, fried shrimp, tomato slices, pickles, and drizzle with remoulade sauce.

  7. 7

    Serve

Serve immediately with extra remoulade on the side.
