Method
House-made Chocolate Chip Skillet Cookie
- 1
Prep and preheat
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a 9-inch cast-iron skillet and set aside.
- 2
Whisk dry ingredients
In a medium bowl, whisk together all-purpose flour, baking soda, and salt until evenly combined.
- 3
Cream wet ingredients
In a large bowl, whisk melted unsalted butter with light brown sugar and granulated sugar until smooth and glossy, about 1-2 minutes.
- 4
Add vanilla and egg
Beat in vanilla extract, then add the egg and mix until fully incorporated and the dough is cohesive.
- 5
Combine dry and wet
Gradually fold the dry ingredient mixture into the wet mixture, stirring until just combined. Do not overmix.
- 6
Fold in chips and nuts
Fold in semisweet chocolate chips and chopped nuts (if using) until evenly distributed.
- 7
Bake in skillet
Spread dough evenly in the skillet. Bake for 18-22 minutes, until edges are golden and the center remains soft but set.
- 8
Rest and serve
Allow the cookie to rest 5-10 minutes. Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top or on the side.
