FROZEN AND BREWED

Method

FROZEN AND BREWED

  1. 1

    Brew chai base

In a small saucepan, bring 1 cup water to a boil. Remove from heat, add 2 chai tea bags and 0.25 tsp ground ginger, 0.25 tsp ground cardamom, and 0.25 tsp ground cinnamon. Steep for 5–7 minutes, then remove the tea bags. Let the chai concentrate cool to room temperature.

  2. 2

    Sweeten and chill

Stir in 1.5 cups milk, 2 tablespoons sugar, and 1 teaspoon vanilla. Warm gently until just steaming, then remove from heat and allow to cool. Refrigerate until cold (at least 15 minutes).

  3. 3

    Blend with ice

To a blender, add the chilled chai mixture and 2 cups ice cubes. Blend on high until smooth and frosty. If the mixture is too thick, add a splash more milk and blend again.

  4. 4

    Adjust and serve

Taste the frozen chai and adjust sweetness if needed. If too thick, add more milk; if too thin, add more ice and blend again.

  5. 5

    Garnish and serve

Pour into two glasses. Top with whipped cream and a light dusting of cinnamon (garnish).
