Filter/Drip Coffee

French Press Coffee

Method

Filter/Drip Coffee

  1. 1

Set up your drip brewer with a clean filter. Rinse the filter with hot water to remove any papery taste and preheat the brewer. Discard the rinse water.

  2. 2

Add 6 tbs of medium-ground coffee to the filter and level the bed to ensure even extraction.

  3. 3

Pour about 60 ml of hot water (just off the boil) over the grounds to saturate them. Allow the coffee to bloom for about 30 seconds.

  4. 4

Slowly pour the remaining 420 ml hot water in a circular motion, ensuring all grounds are evenly saturated. Let the coffee drip through completely for about 3–4 minutes.

  5. 5

Remove the filter/dripper, give the brewed coffee a gentle stir, and pour into cups. Enjoy as is or with milk, sugar, or other additives as desired.

French Press Coffee

  1. 6

Preheat the French press carafe by rinsing with hot water and then discarding the warming water.

  2. 7

Add 6 tbs of coarse-ground coffee to the carafe.

  3. 8

Pour 480 ml of hot water (92–96°C / 198–205°F) over the grounds. Stir gently to saturate all grounds.

  4. 9

Place the plunger on top and let the coffee steep for 4 minutes without pressing.

  5. 10

Slowly press the plunger down and immediately pour the coffee into cups to enjoy at its best.
