Gravy Base
Method
Making the Gravy
- 1
Melt the Butter
In a large saucepan, melt the unsalted butter over medium heat until fully melted and bubbling.
- 2
Add Flour
Once the butter is bubbling, whisk in the all-purpose flour. Continue to whisk for about 2-3 minutes until the mixture is golden brown, creating a roux.
- 3
Gradually Add Broth
Slowly pour in the turkey broth while continuously whisking to prevent lumps from forming. Bring the mixture to a simmer.
- 4
Season the Gravy
Add salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and fresh thyme leaves to the gravy. Stir well to combine all the flavors.
- 5
Simmer
Allow the gravy to simmer gently for about 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally until it thickens to your desired consistency.
- 6
Finish and Serve
Remove from heat and stir in the chopped fresh parsley. Taste and adjust seasoning if necessary. Serve warm alongside roasted turkey or as a dipping sauce for subs.
