Prepare the Meatball Mixture
In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, egg, minced garlic, chopped parsley, salt, and black pepper. Mix until well combined.

Form the Meatballs
Using your hands, form the mixture into meatballs about 1.5 inches in diameter. Place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

Bake the Meatballs
Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Bake the meatballs for 20-25 minutes or until cooked through and browned.

Add Tomatoes and Seasoning
Stir in the crushed tomatoes, dried oregano, salt, black pepper, and sugar. Bring the mixture to a simmer.

Simmer the Sauce
Reduce heat to low and let the sauce simmer for 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Combine Meatballs with Sauce
Once the meatballs are cooked, add them to the marinara sauce and stir to coat the meatballs evenly.

Assemble the Sub
Slice the sub rolls lengthwise and place them on a baking sheet. Fill each roll with meatballs and top with mozzarella cheese.

Melt the Cheese
Place the baking sheet under the broiler for a few minutes until the cheese is melted and bubbly. Watch closely to prevent burning.

Serve
Remove from the oven, let cool slightly, then serve hot.
