Method

Turkey Preparation

  1. 1

    Preheat Oven

Preheat your oven to 325°F (163°C).

  2. 2

    Prepare Turkey

Remove the giblets from the turkey and rinse it under cold water.

  3. 3

    Season Turkey

In a small bowl, mix salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Rub the olive oil all over the turkey, then generously sprinkle the seasoning mixture over the turkey, ensuring it is well-coated.

  4. 4

    Roast Turkey

Place the turkey in a roasting pan and roast in the preheated oven for about 3-4 hours or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C). Baste every hour with juices from the pan.

  5. 5

    Rest and Pull Turkey

Once cooked, remove the turkey from the oven, cover it with foil, and let it rest for 30 minutes. After resting, use two forks to pull the turkey apart into shredded pieces.

Sandwich Assembly

  1. 6

    Prepare Vegetables

Slice the tomato and onion thinly. Rinse the lettuce and pat dry.

  2. 7

On one slice of bread, spread 1 tablespoon of mayonnaise. Layer with shredded turkey, followed by provolone cheese, lettuce, tomato, and onion. Top with another slice of bread.

  3. 8

Cut the sandwich in half if desired and serve immediately. Enjoy your homemade turkey sandwich!
