Method
Preparation
- 1
Wash and Cut Potatoes
Wash the Russet potatoes thoroughly to remove any dirt. Cut each potato into thin strips (about 1/4 inch wide) to form fries.
- 2
Soak Potatoes
Place the cut fries in a large bowl of cold water and let them soak for at least 30 minutes to remove excess starch.
Cooking
- 3
Heat Oil
In a large deep frying pot, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C). Use a thermometer for accuracy.
- 4
Dry Potatoes
After soaking, drain the fries and pat them dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture.
- 5
Fry Potatoes
Carefully add a batch of fries to the hot oil. Do not overcrowd the pot. Fry for about 4-5 minutes or until they are golden brown and crispy.
- 6
Remove and Drain
Using a slotted spoon, remove the fries from the oil and transfer them to a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil.
- 7
Season Fries
While the fries are still hot, sprinkle the salt, paprika, garlic powder, and black pepper over them. Toss gently to ensure even coating.
