Preparation Instructions
- 1
Prepare the Coleslaw
In a large bowl, combine the shredded cabbage, grated carrot, mayonnaise, apple cider vinegar, and sugar. Mix well and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to let the flavors meld.
- 2
Prepare the Fries
Peel and cut the potatoes into thick fries. Rinse them in cold water to remove excess starch, then pat them dry with paper towels.

Prepare the Batter
In a bowl, mix together the all-purpose flour, cornstarch, baking powder, Old Bay seasoning, and salt. Gradually whisk in the cold beer or sparkling water until smooth.

Fry the Fish
Dip each cod fillet into the batter, allowing excess to drip off. Carefully place in the hot oil and fry until golden brown, about 4-5 minutes on each side. Remove and drain on paper towels.

Serve
Plate the fish with a side of fries and a generous serving of coleslaw. Serve with a can of soda.
