Fish & Chips Combo Ingredients

Method

Preparation Instructions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Coleslaw

In a large bowl, combine the shredded cabbage, grated carrot, mayonnaise, apple cider vinegar, and sugar. Mix well and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to let the flavors meld.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Fries

Peel and cut the potatoes into thick fries. Rinse them in cold water to remove excess starch, then pat them dry with paper towels.

  3. 3

    Fry the Potatoes

In a large pot or deep fryer, heat the vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C). Fry the potatoes in batches until golden brown and crispy, about 5-7 minutes. Remove and drain on paper towels, then toss with Old Bay seasoning and salt.

  4. 4

    Prepare the Batter

In a bowl, mix together the all-purpose flour, cornstarch, baking powder, Old Bay seasoning, and salt. Gradually whisk in the cold beer or sparkling water until smooth.

  5. 5

    Fry the Fish

Dip each cod fillet into the batter, allowing excess to drip off. Carefully place in the hot oil and fry until golden brown, about 4-5 minutes on each side. Remove and drain on paper towels.

  6. 6

    Serve

Plate the fish with a side of fries and a generous serving of coleslaw. Serve with a can of soda.
