Candied Yams Ingredients
Method
Candied Yams Directions
- 1
Prepare the Yams
Peel and cut the yams into chunks. Place them in a pot of boiling water and cook until they are tender, about 15-20 minutes. Drain and set aside.
- 2
Make the Syrup
In a saucepan, combine the brown sugar, butter, ground cinnamon, ground nutmeg, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt over medium heat. Stir until the butter is melted and the sugar is dissolved.
- 3
Combine Yams and Syrup
In a large mixing bowl, combine the cooked yams with the syrup mixture, stirring gently to coat the yams evenly.
- 4
Bake
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Transfer the yams to a baking dish and bake for 25-30 minutes, until the yams are heated through and slightly caramelized.
- 5
Add Marshmallows
Remove the dish from the oven and sprinkle mini marshmallows on top. Return to the oven and bake for an additional 5-10 minutes until the marshmallows are golden brown.
- 6
Serve
Allow to cool slightly before serving. Enjoy your candied yams!
