Pizza Dough and Toppings
Method
Preparation and Cooking
- 1
Prepare the Dough
In a mixing bowl, combine warm water and active dry yeast. Let it sit for 5 minutes until frothy. Add the olive oil and salt.
- 2
Gradually add the all-purpose flour, mixing until a dough forms. Knead on a floured surface for about 10 minutes until smooth.
- 3
Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover with a cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- 4
Prepare the Toppings
Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C). Roll out the dough on a floured surface to your desired thickness.
- 5
Transfer the rolled dough onto a pizza stone or baking sheet. Spread the tomato sauce evenly over the base.
- 6
Slice the fior di latte cheese and arrange it over the tomato sauce. Sprinkle with dried oregano and add fresh basil leaves.
- 7
Drizzle with extra virgin olive oil before placing in the oven.
- 8
Bake the Pizza
Bake for 10-15 minutes or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is bubbly.
- 9
Remove from the oven, let it cool for a minute, then add more fresh basil if desired. Slice and serve.
