Pizza Dough & Build

Toppings (choose up to 5 total; quantities listed are a suggestion to make five distinctive toppings)

Method

Pizza Dough & Prep

  1. 1

    preheat

Preheat your oven to 500°F (260°C). If you have a pizza stone, place it on the middle rack while the oven heats. If using a baking sheet, lightly oil the sheet and set aside.

  2. 2

    shape dough

Lightly flour a work surface with the all-purpose flour. Stretch or roll the dough into a 12-inch round (or desired size) about 1/4-inch thick, leaving a slightly thicker rim for the crust. Transfer the stretched dough to a piece of parchment paper or the prepared baking sheet.

  3. 3

    oil crust

Brush the outer 1/2-inch rim of the dough lightly with 1 teaspoon of olive oil to promote browning.

Sauce & Cheese

  1. 4

    apply sauce

Spread 3 tablespoons of your chosen sauce (tomato or garlic white sauce) evenly over the dough, leaving the oiled rim exposed. Use the back of a spoon to create a thin, even layer.

  2. 5

    add mozzarella

Distribute 1 1/2 cups of shredded or torn mozzarella evenly over the sauced dough so the cheese covers most of the surface but doesn't heap at the edges.

Toppings

  1. 6

    arrange pepperoni

Place about 18–20 pepperoni slices evenly across the pizza surface so each slice will have a few pieces after baking.

  2. 7

    add vegetables & olives

Scatter the sliced mushrooms (3 oz), thinly sliced red onion (1/4 cup), green bell pepper (1/2 cup), and halved black olives (1/4 cup) evenly on top of the cheese. Keep pieces thin to ensure even cooking.

  3. 8

    season

Sprinkle 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano, 1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (if using), and 1/4 teaspoon kosher salt evenly over the toppings.

Bake & Finish

  1. 9

    bake

Slide the pizza (on parchment) onto the preheated pizza stone or place the baking sheet in the oven. Bake at 500°F (260°C) for 8–12 minutes, rotating halfway through, until the crust is golden and cheese is bubbling and slightly browned in spots. Baking time depends on oven and dough thickness.

  2. 10

    finish

Remove the pizza from the oven and let rest 2 minutes. Sprinkle 2 teaspoons grated Parmesan over the top and scatter torn fresh basil leaves (6 leaves) over the pizza. Drizzle remaining 2 teaspoons olive oil around the crust if desired. Slice into 8 slices and serve immediately.
