Method

Chips

  1. 1

    Prepare the Tortillas

Stack the corn tortillas and cut them into triangle shapes.

  2. 2

    Heat the Oil

In a large skillet or deep frying pan, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

  3. 3

    Fry the Chips

Carefully add the tortilla triangles to the hot oil in batches, ensuring not to overcrowd the pan. Fry until they are golden and crispy, about 2-3 minutes.

  4. 4

    Drain and Season

Remove the chips from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil. Sprinkle with salt while still hot.

Salsa

  1. 5

    Chop the Ingredients

Finely chop the ripe tomatoes, red onion, jalapeño pepper (remove seeds for less heat), and fresh cilantro.

  2. 6

    Mix the Salsa

In a mixing bowl, combine the chopped tomatoes, onion, jalapeño, and cilantro. Squeeze the juice of one lime over the mixture.

  3. 7

    Season the Salsa

Add salt and black pepper to taste. Mix well until all ingredients are combined.

  4. 8

    Let it Rest

Allow the salsa to sit for at least 15 minutes before serving to let the flavors meld together.
