Cocktail
Prepare glass
Chill a highball or hurricane glass by filling it with ice and setting aside while you mix the drink.
Combine ingredients
In a cocktail shaker, add 2 oz gin, 0.5 oz triple sec, 0.5 oz cherry liqueur (or 0.25 oz grenadine + 0.25 oz additional sweetener if you prefer), 1.5 oz fresh pineapple juice, 0.5 oz fresh lime juice, 0.25 oz simple syrup (optional for extra sweetness), and 2 dashes Angostura bitters.
Add ice and shake
Fill the shaker with ice (about 6-8 large cubes or equivalent crushed ice) and shake vigorously for 10–15 seconds until the shaker is well chilled and slightly frosted.
Prepare serving glass
Discard the ice used to chill the serving glass and fill the glass about two-thirds full with fresh crushed ice or ice cubes (approximately 1 cup).
Garnish and finish
Garnish with a pineapple wedge and a maraschino cherry on a pick. Optionally add a straw and serve immediately.
Serve
Present chilled. Encourage the drinker to stir gently if they want a uniform color and sweetness before sipping.
