Pork Marinade

Bánh Mì Assembly

Method

Marinating the Pork

  1. 1

    Prepare the Marinade

In a large bowl, combine soy sauce, fish sauce, honey, minced garlic, black pepper, five-spice powder, and vegetable oil.

  2. 2

    Marinate the Pork

Add the pork shoulder to the marinade, ensuring it's well coated. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, preferably overnight to enhance the flavor.

Grilling the Pork

  1. 3

    Preheat the Grill

Preheat your grill to medium-high heat.

  2. 4

    Grill the Pork

Remove the pork from the marinade and place it on the grill. Cook for about 6-8 minutes on each side, or until the internal temperature reaches 145°F (63°C).

  3. 5

    Rest the Pork

Once cooked, remove the pork from the grill and let it rest for 5-10 minutes before slicing.

Assembling the Bánh Mì

  1. 6

    Slice the Baguette

While the pork rests, slice the baguette horizontally, leaving one side intact.

  2. 7

    Spread Mayonnaise

Spread a tablespoon of mayonnaise on the inside of each baguette.

  3. 8

    Add Ingredients

Layer the sliced pork, cucumber, pickled carrots, fresh cilantro, and jalapeños inside the baguette.

  4. 9

    Serve

Slice the assembled bánh mì into manageable pieces and serve immediately.
