Method
Preparation of Coffee
- 1
Brew the Coffee
Brew 1 cup of espresso or strong coffee and let it cool to room temperature. If desired, stir in the coffee liqueur.
Cream Mixture
- 2
Prepare the Cream
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the mascarpone cheese and egg yolks until smooth and creamy.
- 3
Whip the Heavy Cream
In a separate bowl, whip the heavy cream, granulated sugar, and vanilla extract until stiff peaks form.
- 4
Combine the Mixtures
Gently fold the whipped cream into the mascarpone mixture until well combined. Be careful not to deflate the whipped cream.
Assembly
- 5
Dip Ladyfingers
Quickly dip each ladyfinger into the cooled coffee, ensuring they are soaked but not soggy.
- 6
Layer the Ingredients
In a serving dish, arrange a layer of soaked ladyfingers at the bottom. Spread half of the mascarpone cream mixture over the ladyfingers.
- 7
Repeat Layers
Add another layer of soaked ladyfingers followed by the remaining mascarpone cream mixture.
Topping and Chilling
- 8
Dust with Cocoa
Sift cocoa powder over the top of the tiramisu. Optionally, sprinkle dark chocolate shavings on top.
- 9
Chill the Dessert
Cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight, to allow the flavors to meld and the dessert to set.
