Meatballs

Ragu' Napoletano

Method

Meatballs Preparation

  1. 1

    Mix Ingredients

In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, ground pork, breadcrumbs, ricotta cheese, egg, grated Parmesan cheese, minced garlic, chopped parsley, salt, and black pepper. Mix well until all ingredients are evenly incorporated.

  2. 2

    Shape Meatballs

Using your hands, shape the mixture into meatballs about the size of a golf ball. Place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

  3. 3

    Chill Meatballs

Refrigerate the formed meatballs for at least 30 minutes to help them hold their shape during cooking.

Ragu' Napoletano Preparation

  1. 4

    Sauté Vegetables

In a large saucepan, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and sauté until it becomes translucent (about 5 minutes). Add the minced garlic and cook for another minute.

  2. 5

    Add Tomatoes

Stir in the crushed canned tomatoes and tomato paste. Mix well to combine.

  3. 6

    Season Sauce

Add the fresh basil, salt, black pepper, and sugar to the sauce. Stir to incorporate all the flavors. Let the sauce simmer on low heat for about 20 minutes.

  4. 7

    Cook Meatballs

After the sauce has simmered, carefully place the meatballs into the sauce. Cover and let them cook on low heat for 30-40 minutes, until they are cooked through.
