Mix Ingredients
In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, ground pork, breadcrumbs, ricotta cheese, egg, grated Parmesan cheese, minced garlic, chopped parsley, salt, and black pepper. Mix well until all ingredients are evenly incorporated.

Shape Meatballs
Using your hands, shape the mixture into meatballs about the size of a golf ball. Place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

Chill Meatballs
Refrigerate the formed meatballs for at least 30 minutes to help them hold their shape during cooking.

Add Tomatoes
Stir in the crushed canned tomatoes and tomato paste. Mix well to combine.

Season Sauce
Add the fresh basil, salt, black pepper, and sugar to the sauce. Stir to incorporate all the flavors. Let the sauce simmer on low heat for about 20 minutes.

Cook Meatballs
After the sauce has simmered, carefully place the meatballs into the sauce. Cover and let them cook on low heat for 30-40 minutes, until they are cooked through.
