Pasta

Method

Cooking Pasta

  1. 1

    Step 1: Boil Water

Fill a large pot with water, add 1 tablespoon of salt, and bring it to a boil over high heat.

  2. 2

    Step 2: Cook Fettuccine

Once the water is boiling, add the fettuccine pasta. Cook according to package instructions until al dente, usually about 8-10 minutes.

  3. 3

    Step 3: Drain Pasta

Once cooked, reserve 1 cup of pasta water, then drain the pasta and set aside.

Making Sauce

  1. 4

    Step 4: Prepare Sauce Base

In a large saucepan over medium heat, melt 1 cup of unsalted butter. Add 3 minced garlic cloves and sauté until fragrant, about 1-2 minutes.

  2. 5

    Step 5: Add Cream

Slowly pour in 1 cup of heavy cream, stirring continuously. Allow the mixture to heat through for about 2-3 minutes.

  3. 6

    Step 6: Incorporate Cheese

Gradually whisk in 1 cup of grated Parmesan cheese until fully melted and the sauce is smooth.

  4. 7

    Step 7: Season the Sauce

Add 1 teaspoon of black pepper and 1 teaspoon of nutmeg to the sauce. Mix well.

  5. 8

    Step 8: Add Crab

Gently fold in 8 ounces of lump crab meat to the sauce, being careful not to break up the crab too much.

Combining Ingredients

  1. 9

Step 9: Combine Pasta and Sauce

Add the drained fettuccine to the sauce, tossing gently to coat the pasta evenly. If the sauce is too thick, add reserved pasta water a little at a time until desired consistency is reached.

  2. 10

    Step 10: Garnish and Serve

Once well mixed, garnish with 2 tablespoons of chopped fresh parsley. Serve hot and enjoy your Alfredo with lump crab!
