Preparation
- 1
Chill & Prepare
Chill your sparkling brut or draft pilsner and the fresh-pressed orange juice well beforehand. Place glasses in the fridge if you prefer extra-cold servings. If serving a single cocktail, have a chilled flute or Collins glass ready. If serving a pitcher, ensure the pitcher is chilled or contains a few ice cubes.
- 2
Optional Ice
If making a pitcher for several guests and you want it cold without obvious dilution, add 1 cup of ice to the pitcher. If serving individual flutes, do not add ice to the glass (it will flatten the bubbles).
Assembly (Single Serving)
- 3
Pour 1/2 cup (120 ml) fresh-pressed orange juice into a chilled flute or Collins glass.
- 4
Add 2 teaspoons (approx. 10 ml) orange curaçao to the juice. Gently stir once to combine — the curaçao adds aromatic orange complexity and a hint of sweetness.
- 5
Slowly top with 1/2 cup (120 ml) chilled brut sparkling wine or chilled draft pilsner. Pour gently down the side of the glass or over the back of a spoon to preserve effervescence and avoid foaming over.
- 6
Garnish with an orange wheel or a thin orange twist. Serve immediately while bubbly.
Assembly (Pitcher / 4 Servings)
- 7
In a chilled pitcher, combine 2 cups (480 ml) fresh-pressed orange juice and 8 teaspoons (40 ml) orange curaçao. Stir gently to blend.
- 8
If using ice, add 1 cup of ice to the pitcher now to keep it cold. Pour in 2 cups (480 ml) chilled brut sparkling wine or draft pilsner slowly to preserve bubbles; stir extremely gently once to incorporate. Alternatively, top each glass individually with sparkling to keep fizz maximum.
- 9
Ladle or pour into chilled glasses, garnish each with an orange wheel or twist, and serve immediately.
Notes & Tips
- 10
If you prefer a drier cocktail, reduce orange curaçao to 1 tsp per serving. For a sweeter profile, increase to 1 tablespoon per serving or use sweeter orange juice. Using a dry brut gives classic mimosa character; using a pilsner creates a lighter, beer-forward variation with more pronounced hop and malt notes—adjust curaçao to balance.
- 11
Always add sparkling last and pour slowly to retain carbonation. Fresh-pressed orange juice is recommended for brightness, but high-quality store-bought juice may be used.
