Steak Fries
Method
Preparation and Cooking
- 1
Prepare the Potatoes
Wash and scrub the russet potatoes thoroughly. Cut each potato into thick wedges, about 1 inch wide.
- 2
Soak the Potatoes
Place the potato wedges in a bowl of cold water and soak for at least 30 minutes. This helps to remove excess starch.
- 3
Dry the Potatoes
After soaking, drain the potatoes and pat them dry with a clean kitchen towel.
- 4
Heat the Oil
In a large pot or deep fryer, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
- 5
Fry the Potatoes
Carefully add the potato wedges to the hot oil in batches, making sure not to overcrowd the pot. Fry for about 5-7 minutes or until golden brown and crispy.
- 6
Drain and Season
Remove the fries from the oil using a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels. While still hot, season with salt, black pepper, paprika, and garlic powder to taste.
- 7
Serve
Serve the steak fries hot with your favorite dipping sauce.
