Classic Margarita
Pitcher (makes ~6 servings)
Method
Classic Margarita
- 1
Prepare glass
Run a lime wedge around the rim of a rocks or coupe glass. Pour coarse salt onto a small plate, then press the moistened rim into the salt to coat. Set glass aside.
- 2
Build and shake
In a cocktail shaker add 2 oz silver tequila, 1 oz fresh lime juice, 0.5 oz agave syrup, and 0.5 oz orange liqueur if using. Add a generous handful of ice (about 1 cup). Secure the lid and shake vigorously for 10–15 seconds until the shaker is cold to the touch.
- 3
Strain and serve
Fill the prepared glass with fresh ice if you prefer it on the rocks (or serve neat in a chilled coupe). Double-strain the cocktail into the glass using the shaker's strainer (and a fine mesh strainer if you want to remove tiny ice shards). Garnish with a lime wedge. Serve immediately.

Adjustment tips
Taste and adjust sweetness by adding small increments (0.25 oz) of agave if too tart, or a splash more lime if too sweet. If omitting orange liqueur, increase agave slightly if you prefer more balance.
Pitcher Margarita (serves ~6)
- 5
Mix pitcher
In a large pitcher combine 12 oz silver tequila, 6 oz fresh lime juice, 3 oz agave syrup, and 3 oz orange liqueur if using. Stir vigorously until the agave is fully incorporated.
- 6
Chill
Add 6 cups of ice to the pitcher just before serving or refrigerate the mixed base (without ice) up to 2 hours in advance. If chilled without ice, stir well and add ice when ready to serve.
