Burger Patties

Bun

Method

Prepare the Burger Patties

  1. 1

    Form the Patties

In a mixing bowl, combine the Angus beef, salt, and black pepper. Mix gently until just combined. Form the mixture into one large patty (or two smaller ones, depending on your preference).

  2. 2

    Cook the Patties

Preheat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the burger patty for about 4-5 minutes on each side for medium-rare, or until your preferred doneness is achieved. If adding cheese, place it on top of the patty during the last minute of cooking to melt.

Prepare the Toppings

  1. 3

    Slice the Tomato

Wash and slice the tomato into thick slices.

  2. 4

    Prepare Onion Straws

If using store-bought onion straws, simply have them ready. If making homemade, slice an onion thinly, coat in flour, and fry until golden brown.

  3. 5

    Wash the Romaine Lettuce

Wash and dry the romaine lettuce leaf.

  4. 6

    Slice the Dill Pickles

Slice the dill pickle into thin rounds.

  5. 7

    Cook Optional Toppings

If using applewood smoked bacon, sauté until crispy. For sautéed mushrooms, cook fresh mushrooms in a bit of oil in a skillet until tender. For caramelized onions, slowly cook sliced onions in a pan with a touch of oil until golden and sweet.

Assemble the Burger

  1. 8

    Toast the Pretzel Bun

Lightly toast the pretzel bun on the grill or in a toaster.

  2. 9

    Build the Burger

On the bottom half of the bun, place the cooked burger patty. Top with tomato slices, onion straws, romaine lettuce, dill pickle slices, and any optional toppings like bacon, sautéed mushrooms, or caramelized onions. Finally, place the top half of the bun over the toppings.
