Molten Lava Cake Recipe
Chocolate cake with a warm decadent molten chocolate center. Served with a scoop of vanilla ice-cream covered in chocolate and caramel sauce.

Cake Preparation

Melt Chocolate and Butter
In a heatproof bowl, combine the dark chocolate and unsalted butter. Melt them together over a double boiler or in the microwave, stirring until smooth. Let it cool slightly.

Mix Sugar and Eggs
In a separate bowl, whisk together the granulated sugar, large eggs, and egg yolk until the mixture is pale and slightly thickened.

Combine Mixtures
Pour the melted chocolate mixture into the egg mixture. Add the vanilla extract and a pinch of salt. Stir until well combined.

Add Flour
Gently fold in the all-purpose flour until just combined. Do not overmix.

Fill Ramekins
Divide the batter evenly among the prepared ramekins, filling each about 3/4 full.

Bake
Place the ramekins on a baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for about 12-14 minutes, or until the edges are firm but the center is still soft.

Remove from the oven and let them cool for 1 minute before inverting onto plates.

Plate the Cake
Carefully invert each molten lava cake onto a dessert plate.

Top each cake with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

Drizzle chocolate sauce and caramel sauce over the ice cream and cake.
