Preparation

Butter the Bread
Take 2 tablespoons of unsalted butter and spread it evenly on one side of each slice of Texas toast.

Heat the Pan
In a large skillet, heat over medium heat until hot but not smoking.

Assemble the Sandwich
Place two slices of Texas toast, buttered side down, on the skillet. Layer each slice with two slices of American cheese.

Top and Grill
Place the remaining two slices of Texas toast on top of the cheese, buttered side up. Cook for about 3-4 minutes until the bottom is golden brown.

Flip the Sandwich
Carefully flip the sandwiches using a spatula. Cook for an additional 3-4 minutes until the second side is also golden brown and the cheese has melted.
Serving

Slice and Serve
Once both sides of the sandwich are golden and the cheese is melted, remove from the pan. Allow to cool for a minute, then slice in half and serve warm.
