Filet Mignon

Choice of Side

Method

Filet Mignon Preparation

  1. 1

    Season the Steak

Sprinkle both sides of the filet mignon with salt and black pepper. Let it sit at room temperature for about 30 minutes to allow the seasoning to penetrate the meat.

  2. 2

    Sear the Steak

Heat the olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the filet mignon and sear for 4-5 minutes on each side for medium-rare, or until desired doneness is reached.

  3. 3

    Rest the Steak

Remove the filet mignon from the skillet and let it rest on a cutting board for 5-10 minutes before serving. This allows the juices to redistribute.

Compound Butter Preparation

  1. 4

    Mix the Compound Butter

In a small bowl, combine the softened unsalted butter, minced garlic, chopped parsley, chopped thyme, and lemon zest. Mix until well combined.

  2. 5

    Form the Butter

Transfer the compound butter mixture onto a piece of plastic wrap. Shape it into a log and wrap tightly. Chill in the refrigerator until firm, about 30 minutes.

Serving the Dish

  1. 6

    Plate the Filet

Place the rested filet mignon on a serving plate. Top with a slice of the compound butter.

  2. 7

    Choose a Side

Serve with your choice of roasted vegetables, garlic mashed potatoes, or steamed asparagus.
