Cooking Directions
- 1
Prepare the Pork
Trim excess fat from the pork shoulder and rub it with a mixture of brown sugar, paprika, salt, black pepper, cayenne pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder.
- 2
Marinate
Cover the rubbed pork with plastic wrap and let it marinate in the refrigerator for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight.
- 3
Preheat Smoker
Preheat your smoker to 225°F (107°C).
- 4
Smoke the Pork
Place the pork shoulder in the smoker and add wood chips of your choice (hickory or applewood work well). Smoke for approximately 8-10 hours, or until the internal temperature reaches 195°F (90°C).
- 5
Rest the Meat
Once done, remove the pork from the smoker and let it rest for at least 30 minutes.
- 6
Shred the Pork
Using two forks, shred the pork into bite-sized pieces.
- 7
Serve
Serve the pulled pork with your choice of BBQ sauce on the side.
