Method
Pickles Preparation
- 1
Drain the dill and sweet pickle chips thoroughly. Pat them dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture.
Batter Preparation
- 2
In a medium-sized bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, cornstarch, baking powder, salt, black pepper, and paprika. Mix well to combine.
- 3
In a separate bowl, whisk together the egg and buttermilk until smooth.
- 4
Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Do not overmix; a few lumps are okay.
Frying
- 5
- 6
Dip each pickle chip into the batter, ensuring it is fully coated.
- 7
Carefully place the battered pickle chips into the hot oil, frying in batches to avoid overcrowding. Fry for about 2-3 minutes or until golden brown and crispy.
- 8
Using a slotted spoon, remove the fried pickles from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
Ranch Sauce Preparation
- 9
In a medium bowl, combine mayonnaise, sour cream, dried dill, garlic powder, onion powder, and lemon juice.
- 10
Mix well until all ingredients are combined and the sauce is smooth.
