Pulled Pork Preparation
- 1
Season the Pork
In a small bowl, mix together brown sugar, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper. Rub this mixture all over the pork shoulder.
- 2
Slow Cook the Pork
Place the seasoned pork shoulder in the slow cooker. Add apple cider vinegar and water. Cook on low for 8-10 hours, or until the pork is tender and easily shredded.
- 3
Shred the Pork
Once cooked, remove the pork from the slow cooker and shred it with two forks. Return the shredded pork to the slow cooker and mix with the cooking juices.
BBQ Sauce Preparation
- 4
Make the BBQ Sauce
In a saucepan over medium heat, combine ketchup, apple cider vinegar, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, smoked paprika, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Stir well and simmer for about 10 minutes to thicken the sauce.
- 5
Mix with Pulled Pork
Once the sauce is ready, pour it over the shredded pork in the slow cooker. Stir well to coat the pork with the BBQ sauce.
Coleslaw Preparation
- 6
Prepare the Coleslaw
In a large bowl, combine shredded cabbage and shredded carrots. In a separate bowl, whisk together mayonnaise, apple cider vinegar, sugar, salt, and black pepper. Pour the dressing over the cabbage mixture and toss to combine.
