Method

Steak Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Steak

Take the ribeye steaks out of the refrigerator and let them come to room temperature for about 30 minutes. This allows for even cooking.

  2. 2

    Season the Steak

Rub the steaks with olive oil, and then season both sides generously with salt and black pepper. Crush the garlic cloves and place them on top of the steaks along with the rosemary sprigs.

  3. 3

    Cook the Steak

Heat a grill pan or skillet over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the steaks and cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side for medium-rare, or until desired doneness. Use a meat thermometer for accuracy (130°F for medium-rare).

  4. 4

    Rest the Steak

Remove the steaks from the heat and let them rest for at least 5 minutes before slicing. This helps the juices redistribute.

Fries Preparation

  1. 5

    Prepare the Potatoes

Wash and peel the russet potatoes. Cut them into even-sized fries, about 1/4 inch thick, to ensure even cooking.

  2. 6

    Soak the Fries

Place the cut fries in a bowl of cold water and soak for at least 30 minutes. This helps to remove excess starch, resulting in crispier fries.

  3. 7

    Heat the Oil

In a large pot or deep fryer, heat the vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C). Use a thermometer for accuracy.

  4. 8

    Fry the Potatoes

Remove the fries from the water and pat them dry with paper towels. Fry them in batches for about 3-4 minutes until golden and crispy. Remove from the oil and drain on paper towels.

  5. 9

    Season the Fries

While the fries are still hot, sprinkle them with salt to taste.
