Method

Cooking the Tortellini

  1. 1

    Boil Water

In a large pot, bring water to a boil over high heat. Add a generous amount of salt to the water.

  2. 2

    Cook Tortellini

Once the water is boiling, add the tortellini. Cook according to package instructions, typically around 4-5 minutes, until they float to the surface and are tender.

  3. 3

    Drain

Once cooked, drain the tortellini in a colander and set aside.

Making the Alfredo Sauce

  1. 4

    Melt Butter

In a large saucepan over medium heat, melt the unsalted butter.

  2. 5

    Add Garlic

Once melted, add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant, being careful not to burn it.

  3. 6

    Add Cream

Stir in the heavy cream and bring to a gentle simmer, allowing it to bubble lightly for about 2-3 minutes.

  4. 7

    Incorporate Cheese

Gradually whisk in the Parmesan cheese until it is melted and the sauce is smooth.

  5. 8

    Season the Sauce

Add salt, black pepper, and grated nutmeg. Stir well to combine and let it simmer for another minute.

Combining Tortellini and Sauce

  1. 9

    Mix Together

Add the drained tortellini to the Alfredo sauce, gently tossing to coat the pasta evenly.

  2. 10

    Serve

Divide the tortellini Alfredo among plates or bowls. Garnish with chopped fresh parsley.
