Method

Prepare Gnocchi

  1. 1

    Boil Water

In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil over medium-high heat.

  2. 2

    Cook Gnocchi

Add the potato gnocchi to the boiling water. Cook until they float to the surface, about 2-3 minutes. Remove with a slotted spoon and set aside.

Make Tomato Sauce

  1. 3

    Sauté Garlic

In a saucepan, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté until fragrant, about 1 minute.

  2. 4

    Add Tomatoes

Crush the canned whole tomatoes into the pan. Add salt, black pepper, and sugar. Stir well and let simmer for 15 minutes.

  3. 5

    Finish Sauce

Add fresh basil leaves before serving. Adjust seasoning to taste.

Prepare Butter Sauce

  1. 6

    Melt Butter

In a separate skillet, melt the unsalted butter over medium heat.

  2. 7

    Add Sage

Add fresh sage leaves to the melted butter and cook until fragrant and the butter is slightly browned, about 2-3 minutes. Remove from heat.

Combine and Serve

  1. 8

    Toss Gnocchi

In a large serving bowl, combine the cooked gnocchi with the tomato sauce and toss to coat.

  2. 9

    Add Butter Sauce

Drizzle the sage butter sauce over the gnocchi and toss gently to combine.

  3. 10

    Serve

Serve immediately, garnished with additional basil if desired.
