Method

Cooking Pasta

  1. 1

    Cook Spaghetti

Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the spaghetti and cook according to the package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

Making Meat Sauce

  1. 2

    Prepare the sauce

In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and sauté for about 3-4 minutes until translucent.

  2. 3

    Add garlic and vegetables

Add the minced garlic, diced carrot, and diced celery to the skillet. Cook for an additional 5 minutes until the vegetables are softened.

  3. 4

    Cook the meat

Add the ground beef to the skillet, breaking it apart with a spoon. Cook until browned, about 7-10 minutes.

  4. 5

    Add tomatoes and seasoning

Stir in the crushed canned tomatoes, tomato paste, and red wine. Add the dried oregano, salt, and black pepper to taste. Bring to a simmer.

  5. 6

    Simmer the sauce

Reduce the heat to low and let the sauce simmer for at least 20-30 minutes, stirring occasionally. If the sauce thickens too much, you can add a little water.

  6. 7

    Finish with basil

Stir in the chopped fresh basil just before serving.

Serving

  1. 8

    Combine and serve

Serve the spaghetti topped with the rich meat sauce. Enjoy!
