Cook Spaghetti
Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the spaghetti and cook according to the package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
Making Meat Sauce

Prepare the sauce
In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and sauté for about 3-4 minutes until translucent.

Cook the meat
Add the ground beef to the skillet, breaking it apart with a spoon. Cook until browned, about 7-10 minutes.

Add tomatoes and seasoning
Stir in the crushed canned tomatoes, tomato paste, and red wine. Add the dried oregano, salt, and black pepper to taste. Bring to a simmer.

Simmer the sauce
Reduce the heat to low and let the sauce simmer for at least 20-30 minutes, stirring occasionally. If the sauce thickens too much, you can add a little water.

Finish with basil
Stir in the chopped fresh basil just before serving.
