Method
Cooking the Pasta
- 1
Boil Water
In a large pot, bring 4 quarts of salted water to a boil.
- 2
Cook Fettuccine
Add the fettuccine to the boiling water and cook according to package instructions until al dente, usually about 8-10 minutes.
- 3
Drain Pasta
Once cooked, drain the fettuccine in a colander and set aside, reserving about 1 cup of the pasta cooking water.
Making the Sauce
- 4
Melt Butter
In a large skillet over medium heat, melt the butter.
- 5
Add Cream and Garlic
Once the butter is melted, add the heavy cream and minced garlic. Stir to combine and cook for about 2-3 minutes until heated through.
- 6
Incorporate Cheese
Gradually whisk in the grated Parmesan cheese until the sauce is smooth and creamy.
- 7
Season the Sauce
Add salt and black pepper to taste, adjusting as needed.
- 8
Combine Pasta and Sauce
Add the drained fettuccine to the skillet and toss to coat the pasta evenly with the sauce. If the sauce is too thick, add a little reserved pasta water to reach desired consistency.
Serving
- 9
Plate the Fettuccine
Serve the Fettuccine Alfredo hot, garnished with fresh chopped parsley if desired.
