Grilled Bread & Garnish
Method
Meatballs
- 1
Prepare the Meatball Mixture
In a large mixing bowl, combine breadcrumbs and milk. Let soak for 2–3 minutes until fully absorbed. Add ground beef, ground pork, eggs, parmesan, garlic, parsley, salt, and black pepper. Gently mix by hand until just combined to avoid overworking the meat.
- 2
Form and Sear the Meatballs
Roll the mixture into golf-ball-sized meatballs, about 2 inches in diameter. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Sear meatballs in batches, turning to brown all sides, about 6–8 minutes total. Remove and set aside; they will finish cooking in the sauce.
Marinara / Spicy Marinara Sauce

- 4
Simmer the Sauce
Stir in crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, oregano, sugar, salt, and black pepper. For spicy marinara, add red pepper flakes. Bring to a gentle simmer.
- 5
Finish Cooking Meatballs
Add seared meatballs to the sauce, spooning sauce over them. Cover partially and simmer for 20–25 minutes, until meatballs are cooked through and tender.
