Tofu Preparation
- 1
Drain and press tofu
Remove the tofu from its package and drain excess water. Wrap the tofu block in a clean kitchen towel or paper towels, place it on a plate, and weigh it down with a heavy object (like a skillet or a can) for 20 minutes to press out moisture.
- 2
Cut and season tofu
Once pressed, cut the tofu into 1-inch cubes. Sprinkle evenly with salt and gently toss to coat.
- 3
Coat with cornstarch
Place the tofu cubes in a large bowl or zip-top bag. Add the cornstarch and toss gently to coat all sides of the tofu evenly. This helps create a crispy exterior when fried.
Frying
- 4
Heat oil
In a large skillet or wok, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C) or until a small piece of tofu sizzles immediately when added.

- 6
