Method

Prepare the Burger Patty

  1. 1

    Mix the Ingredients

In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Mix gently with your hands until the spices are evenly distributed.

  2. 2

    Form the Patties

Divide the mixture into two equal portions and form each portion into a patty approximately 1 inch thick. Make a small indentation in the center of each patty to prevent it from puffing up while cooking.

Cook the Burger Patty

  1. 3

    Preheat the Grill or Skillet

Preheat your grill or skillet over medium-high heat for about 5 minutes.

  2. 4

    Cook the Patties

Place the patties on the grill or skillet. Cook for about 4-5 minutes on one side until browned, then flip and cook for an additional 3-4 minutes on the other side. In the last minute of cooking, place a slice of cheddar cheese on top of each patty to melt.

Prepare the Toppings

  1. 5

    Slice the Tomato

While the burgers are cooking, wash and slice the tomato into round slices.

  2. 6

    Prepare the Lettuce

Wash and pat dry the lettuce leaves.

Assemble the Burger

  1. 7

    Toast the Buns (Optional)

If desired, toast the burger buns on the grill or in a toaster until golden brown.

  2. 8

    Build the Burger

On the bottom half of each bun, spread ketchup, mayonnaise, and mustard to taste. Place a lettuce leaf on top, followed by the burger patty with melted cheese, and then top with tomato slices. Finally, place the top half of the bun on.
