Method

Meat Filling Preparation

  1. 1

    Cook the Meats

In a large skillet over medium heat, add the ground beef, ground pork, and Italian sausage. Cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spoon, about 8-10 minutes.

  2. 2

    Add Aromatics

Add the diced onion and minced garlic to the skillet. Sauté for an additional 5 minutes until the onions are translucent.

Marinara Sauce Preparation

  1. 3

    Combine Ingredients

In a separate pot, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, oregano, basil, salt, and black pepper. Stir well to combine.

  2. 4

    Simmer the Sauce

Bring the sauce to a simmer and let it cook for about 20 minutes, stirring occasionally. Once the meat filling is done, combine it with the sauce and heat through.

Cheese Mixture Preparation

  1. 5

    Mix Cheese Mixture

In a medium bowl, combine the ricotta cheese, eggs, and grated Parmesan cheese. Mix well until smooth and creamy.

Lasagna Assembly

  1. 6

    Layer the Lasagna

Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). In a 9x13 inch baking dish, spread a thin layer of marinara sauce on the bottom. Place 4 sheets of lasagna noodles over the sauce. Spread half of the cheese mixture over the noodles, then add a layer of meat sauce. Repeat the layers, ending with noodles and a final layer of marinara sauce.

  2. 7

    Add Mozzarella

Top the final layer of marinara sauce with shredded mozzarella cheese.

  3. 8

    Bake the Lasagna

Cover with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 20 minutes or until the cheese is bubbly and golden brown.

  4. 9

    Cool and Serve

Allow the lasagna to cool for 10-15 minutes before slicing. Serve and enjoy!
