Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Bread

Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Slice the rustic Italian bread into 1/2-inch thick pieces. Arrange the slices on a baking sheet.

  2. 2

    Toast the Bread

Drizzle the slices with a little extra virgin olive oil. Toast in the preheated oven for about 8-10 minutes or until golden and crisp. Remove from the oven and set aside.

Making the Topping

  1. 3

    Prepare the Tomatoes

While the bread is toasting, dice the ripe tomatoes into small pieces and place them in a mixing bowl.

  2. 4

    Add Seasoning

Tear the fresh basil leaves and add them to the bowl with the tomatoes. Drizzle with the remaining extra virgin olive oil, balsamic vinegar, and season with salt and black pepper to taste. Mix gently to combine.

Assembly

  1. 5

    Top the Bread

Once the bread is toasted, remove it from the oven. Place a generous spoonful of the tomato and basil mixture on each slice of bread.

  2. 6

    Add the Burrata

Carefully tear the burrata cheese into pieces and place it on top of the tomato mixture on each slice of bread.

  3. 7

    Finish and Serve

Drizzle a little more balsamic vinegar on top if desired, and serve immediately while the bread is still warm.
