Method
Preparation of Cheese and Pastry
- 1
Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
- 2
Prepare the Puff Pastry
Roll out the puff pastry sheet on a lightly floured surface until it is about 1/8 inch thick.
- 3
Wrap the Brie
Cut the puff pastry into three squares large enough to fully enclose each ball of brie. Place a ball of brie in the center of each pastry square and fold the pastry over the cheese, sealing the edges well.
- 4
Egg Wash
Beat the egg in a small bowl and brush it over the wrapped brie to give it a golden color when baked.
Preparation of Fig Glaze
- 5
Combine Ingredients
In a small saucepan, combine the fig preserves and balsamic vinegar.
- 6
Heat the Mixture
Heat over medium heat, stirring occasionally until the mixture is warmed through and slightly thickened, about 5 minutes.
Baking and Serving
- 7
Bake the Brie
Place the wrapped brie on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the pastry is golden brown.
- 8
Prepare the Cashews
While the brie is baking, chop the cashews into smaller pieces.
- 9
Serve
Once the brie is baked, remove it from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes. Drizzle the fig glaze over the top and sprinkle with chopped cashews before serving.
