Guacamole

Tortilla Chips

Method

Guacamole

  1. 1

    Prepare the Avocados

Cut the ripe avocados in half, remove the pit, and scoop the flesh into a mixing bowl.

  2. 2

    Mash the Avocados

Using a fork or a potato masher, mash the avocado to your desired consistency (smooth or chunky).

  3. 3

    Mix in Ingredients

Add the fresh lime juice, salt, diced onion, diced tomato, chopped cilantro, and minced jalapeño to the mashed avocado. Stir gently to combine.

  4. 4

    Taste and Adjust

Taste the guacamole and adjust seasoning with additional lime juice or salt as needed.

Tortilla Chips

  1. 5

    Cut Tortillas

Stack the corn tortillas and cut them into triangles (like a pizza).

  2. 6

    Heat Oil

In a large pot or deep fryer, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

  3. 7

    Fry Chips

Add a handful of tortilla triangles to the hot oil, frying in batches to avoid overcrowding. Fry until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes.

  4. 8

    Drain and Season

Using a slotted spoon, remove the chips from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain. Sprinkle with salt while still hot.

Salsa Fresca

  1. 9

    Prepare Ingredients

In a mixing bowl, combine the diced tomatoes, diced onion, chopped cilantro, minced jalapeño, lime juice, and salt.

  2. 10

    Mix Together

Stir all the ingredients gently to combine, ensuring that the flavors meld together.

  3. 11

    Taste and Adjust

Taste the salsa fresca and adjust seasoning with more salt or lime juice if necessary.
