Cake Base

Method

Cake Base Preparation

  1. 1

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

  2. 2

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, combine 2 cups of all-purpose flour, 1.5 cups of granulated sugar, 2 tsp of baking powder, and 0.5 tsp of salt. Whisk together until well combined.

  3. 3

    Cream Butter and Sugar

In another bowl, cream together 0.5 cups of softened unsalted butter and the dry mixture until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

  4. 4

    Add Wet Ingredients

Add 3 eggs, 2 tsp of vanilla extract, and 1 cup of milk to the mixture. Mix well until smooth and fully combined.

  5. 5

    Bake the Cake

Pour the batter into a greased or lined cake pan. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

  6. 6

    Cool the Cake

Remove the cake from the oven and allow it to cool completely in the pan for about 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

Cake Pop Assembly

  1. 7

    Crumble the Cake

Once the cake is completely cool, crumble it into a large bowl until it resembles fine crumbs.

  2. 8

    Form Cake Balls

Using your hands, take portions of the crumbled cake and roll them into 1-inch balls. Place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

  3. 9

    Melt Chocolate Coating

In a microwave-safe bowl, melt 2 cups of chocolate coating in 30-second intervals, stirring in between until fully melted and smooth.

  4. 10

    Dip Cake Pop Sticks

Dip the end of each cake pop stick into the melted chocolate, then insert it about halfway into each cake ball to help secure it.

  5. 11

    Coat Cake Pops

Once all sticks are inserted, dip each cake ball into the melted chocolate, ensuring it is fully coated. Allow excess chocolate to drip off.

  6. 12

    Add Sprinkles

If desired, immediately sprinkle some sprinkles on top of the wet chocolate coating before it sets.

  7. 13

    Set the Cake Pops

Place the coated cake pops upright in a Styrofoam block or a cake pop stand. Allow them to set at room temperature or refrigerate until the chocolate hardens.
