Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Ginger

Peel the fresh ginger using a spoon or a vegetable peeler. Grate it finely or chop it into small pieces.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Lemongrass

Take the lemongrass stalk and trim the ends. Bruise it with the back of a knife to release its oils and flavor.

Cooking

  1. 3

    Combine Ingredients

In a medium-sized pot, add 4 cups of water, 2 tsp of turmeric powder, the grated ginger, and the bruised lemongrass stalk.

  2. 4

    Bring to a Boil

Place the pot over medium-high heat and bring the mixture to a boil. Once boiling, reduce the heat to low.

  3. 5

    Simmer

Let the mixture simmer for about 10-15 minutes to allow the flavors to meld together. Stir occasionally.

  4. 6

    Strain and Serve

After simmering, strain the mixture through a fine mesh sieve or cheesecloth into a serving pitcher. Discard the solids.

  5. 7

    Add Sweetener (Optional)

If desired, stir in 1 tablespoon of honey for sweetness while the tea is still warm.
