Main Ingredients
Method
Preparation
- 1
Caramelize the Shallots
Thinly slice the shallots. In a skillet over medium heat, add a tablespoon of olive oil. Once hot, add the sliced shallots and a pinch of salt. Cook, stirring occasionally, for about 15-20 minutes until they are golden brown and caramelized. Remove from heat and set aside.
- 2
Cook the Sirloin
In the same skillet, increase the heat to medium-high. Add the shaved sirloin and season with salt and pepper to taste. Cook for about 5-7 minutes, stirring frequently, until the meat is cooked through. If desired, add a splash of Worcestershire sauce for extra flavor.
- 3
Toast the Ciabatta
While the steak is cooking, slice the ciabatta rolls in half and place them on a baking sheet. Toast them under the broiler for 2-3 minutes until they are golden and crispy. Keep an eye on them to prevent burning.
Assembly
- 4
Assemble the Sandwich
Spread a generous layer of garlic aioli on the bottom half of each toasted ciabatta roll. Top with a portion of the cooked sirloin, followed by the caramelized shallots. Place a slice of white American cheese on top of the shallots.
- 5
Melt the Cheese
Return the assembled sandwiches to the broiler for an additional 1-2 minutes, just until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- 6
Serve
Remove the sandwiches from the broiler, place the top half of the ciabatta roll on each sandwich, cut in half if desired, and serve immediately with your favorite side.
