Preparation

  1. 1

    Make the Mint Syrup

In a small saucepan, combine the granulated sugar and water. Heat over medium heat, stirring occasionally until the sugar has completely dissolved. Once dissolved, add the fresh mint leaves and bring to a gentle simmer. Remove from heat and let steep for 10 minutes.

  2. 2

    Strain the Mint Syrup

After the syrup has steeped, strain it through a fine-mesh sieve into a bowl to remove the mint leaves. Set the syrup aside to cool.

Mixing the Julep

  1. 3

    Combine Ingredients

In a large glass or cocktail shaker, add the cooled mint syrup, bourbon, dried rose petals, and dried lavender flowers. Stir gently to combine all the ingredients.

  2. 4

    Add Ice

Fill the glass with crushed ice, packing it tightly to keep the drink cold.

  3. 5

    Garnish

Top the drink with a mint sprig and sprinkle rose petals for an aromatic garnish. Serve immediately with a straw.
