Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the spices

Crush the cardamom pods slightly to release their flavor. Grate the fresh ginger.

  2. 2

    Combine water and spices

In a saucepan, add 4 cups of water, crushed cardamom pods, grated ginger, a whole cinnamon stick, and whole cloves. Bring it to a boil over medium heat.

Brewing the tea

  1. 3

    Add tea leaves

Once the water is boiling, add 2 tablespoons of black tea leaves to the saucepan. Let it boil for 3-5 minutes.

  2. 4

    Add milk

After boiling, lower the heat and add 1 cup of milk to the saucepan. Stir gently and allow it to simmer for an additional 2-3 minutes.

  3. 5

    Sweeten your chai

Add 2 tablespoons of sugar or your preferred sweetener to the chai. Stir well until dissolved.

Serving

  1. 6

    Strain and serve

Remove the saucepan from heat and strain the chai into cups using a fine mesh strainer. Serve hot.
