Preparation

  1. 1

    Chill the Glass

Place a martini glass in the freezer or fill it with ice water to chill while you prepare the drink.

  2. 2

    Mix the Ingredients

In a cocktail shaker, add the gin and dry vermouth. Fill the shaker with ice cubes and secure the lid.

  3. 3

    Shake or Stir

Shake the shaker vigorously for about 15 seconds if you prefer a shaken martini. Alternatively, stir the mixture with a bar spoon for about 30 seconds for a stirred martini.

  4. 4

    Strain into Glass

Remove the martini glass from the freezer or empty the ice water. Use a strainer to pour the mixed drink into the chilled martini glass.

  5. 5

    Garnish

Add an olive or a twist of lemon peel to the drink for garnish. Serve immediately.
