Preparation
- 1
Chop Ingredients
Finely chop the onion and garlic cloves. Dice the fresh tomatoes and set aside.
- 2
Prepare the Pasta
Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the spaghetti and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
Cooking
- 3
Sauté Aromatics
In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and garlic, sautéing until softened and translucent, about 3-4 minutes.
- 4
Brown the Lamb
Add the ground lamb to the skillet. Cook, stirring frequently, until browned and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes.
- 5
Add Tomatoes and Seasoning
Stir in the diced tomatoes, salt, black pepper, and dried oregano. Cook for another 5 minutes until the tomatoes start to break down.
- 6
Incorporate Wine
Pour in the red wine and bring the mixture to a simmer. Reduce the heat to low and let it cook for about 15 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld.
- 7
Combine with Pasta
Add the cooked spaghetti to the skillet, tossing to coat the pasta evenly with the lamb ragu. Allow it to heat through for 2-3 minutes.
- 8
Garnish and Serve
Remove from heat and stir in the fresh basil. Serve warm, garnished with additional basil if desired.
