Crab Cake Mixture
For Cooking
Method
Preparation
- 1
Combine Ingredients
In a large mixing bowl, gently combine the fresh lump crab meat, mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, Old Bay seasoning, salt, black pepper, and finely chopped green onions.
- 2
Bind the Mixture
Add the beaten egg and breadcrumbs to the mixture. Gently fold the ingredients together until just combined, being careful not to break up the crab meat too much.
- 3
Chill the Mixture
Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to allow the mixture to firm up.
Cooking
- 4
Form the Cakes
Once chilled, take the crab mixture and form it into 4 equal-sized patties.
- 5
Heat the Pan
In a large skillet, heat the vegetable oil and butter over medium heat until shimmering.
- 6
Cook the Crab Cakes
Carefully place the crab cakes in the skillet and cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and crispy.
- 7
Drain and Serve
Once cooked, transfer the crab cakes to a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil. Serve warm with your choice of dipping sauce.
