Method

Cake Preparation

  1. 1

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9x13 inch baking dish.

  2. 2

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large bowl, sift together the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.

  3. 3

    Whisk Eggs

In another bowl, whisk the eggs until they are light and frothy. Add the vanilla extract and milk, and mix until well combined.

  4. 4

    Combine Mixtures

Gradually pour the egg mixture into the dry ingredients, mixing gently until just combined. Do not overmix.

  5. 5

    Bake the Cake

Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

  6. 6

    Cool the Cake

Allow the cake to cool completely in the baking dish before soaking it with the milk mixture.

Milk Mixture Preparation

  1. 7

    Combine Milk Ingredients

In a medium bowl, combine the sweetened condensed milk, evaporated milk, heavy cream, Florida orange juice, and orange zest. Whisk until smooth.

  2. 8

    Soak the Cake

Once the cake is cooled, pierce it all over with a fork. Slowly pour the milk mixture over the cake, allowing it to soak in. Let it sit for at least 1 hour, or overnight in the refrigerator for best results.

Topping Preparation

  1. 9

    Make the Whipped Cream

In a large bowl, beat the heavy whipping cream with an electric mixer until soft peaks form. Gradually add the powdered sugar, continuing to beat until stiff peaks form.

  2. 10

    Top the Cake

Spread the whipped cream evenly over the soaked cake. Decorate with Florida orange slices on top.
